Recipients of the 2007 Human Rights Award

Howard and Rosalind Morgan have taken a brave stand in the face of police brutality and outrageous charges. Howard Morgan was shot twenty-eight times by the police and has been charged with attempted murder of four police officers.

Gloria Johnson-Ester and Virginia Clements are fighting for justice for their sons and other incarcerated individuals. G Montell Johnson, who has multiple sclerosis and dementia, has been denied proper health care. Mark Clements was coerced when sixteen years old into confessing to a crime he did not commit and was given a life sentence, and has been in prison for 26 years.

Dr. Connie Mennella and Ms. Mary Muse are Correctional Health Care Champions, who have done outstanding work to maintain high standards of medical care for prisoners.
